Alivia is a Columbia University-trained licensed psychotherapist and the founder and clinical director of LiteMinded. With her extensive professional experience and lifetime of personal experience, she brings a little blend of “expertise”, relatability and empathy to every session.
Originally born in New Jersey, raised in London, UK, and now a long-term NYC resident, she has spent most of her life navigating the hustle of high-pressure cities. Alivia has firsthand experience with how stressors can lead to self-doubt, anxiety, and maladaptive coping mechanisms, affecting personal and professional lives. She also understands how past difficult experiences, such as complex family dynamics, dysfunctional relationships, and trauma, can persist and unexpectedly resurface.
With a non-judgmental and compassionate approach, she creates a safe environment for clients to explore and understand their internal experiences, process thoughts, and identify unhelpful patterns that may hinder personal growth and happiness.
Her clinical approach is rooted in insight-oriented and behavioral theories. She utilizes evidence-based practices, such as psychodynamic therapy, CBT, ACT, IFS, and somatic work, to create a collaborative, empathetic space for curiosity about emotions, thoughts, and conscious and unconscious narratives. Alivia’s aim is to gently, yet directly, guide clients in exploring what gets in the way of being present with themselves and others, alleviating distress and mental suffering.
Alivia has advanced her training in a variety of clinical settings including a dual diagnosis inpatient psychiatric unit at Mount SInai Beth Israel and North Central Bronx, and as a clinician at Ellenhorn, a robust intensive psychiatric recovery program in NYC.
As Clinical Director, she is the lead therapist and connector between clients and associate therapists. She oversees all associate therapists and acts as a mentor for their caseloads.
Using a collaborative process, Alivia empowers clients to identify and make meaningful shifts in their lives.
